CFB Wrap: Vandy is the Real Deal

#19 Vanderbilt defeats #13 Auburn 14-13
Fall is upon us, leaves turning colors and falling from trees, green fading from the grass, but no fading yet from the Commodores of Vanderbilt. Vandy has become the new Cinderella in college football. This is so amazing because the Commodores play in the best conference in the land, the SEC. These pesky Commodores still sit on top of the SEC East and after knocking of the talented Tigers of Auburn, have me convinced they are the real deal. Auburn on the flip side with 2 losses is out of the National Cham! pionship picture and likely the SEC West picture with LSU and Alabama playing so well.

Pittsburgh defeats #10 South Florida 26-21
The Big East continues to remain up for grabs after the Bulls of South Florida fell last Thursday to Dave Wannstedt's Pitt Panthers. Pitt with this win have brought themselves back into the Big East picture. This conference is up for grabs and remember the winner gets an automatic bid to a BCS Bowl Game.

#9 USC defeats #23 Oregon 44-10
The Trojans bounced back from their shocking loss to Oregon State last week by running all over the Oregon Ducks. USC proved in this game that they still are one of the best teams in all the land and if they win out will likely be in the BCS Championship Game.

Upsets
No huge upsets this week, but there were a few notables. Obviously #10 USF going down was the biggest, but they were not the only Big East team upset this weekend. #24 Uconn suffered their first loss! at the hands of North Carolina. This game was not just a los! s; it wa s a slaughter. The Huskies fell 38-12. This just shows how weak the Big East is. UNC is out of the ACC, which is considered soft, and the Tar Heels destroyed Uconn, so the Big East may be the worst of the top tier conferences. #22 Fresno State another of our favorite cinderellas, lost to Hawaii 32-29. Hawaii is not good at all this year, so this one stunned me.

That's it for this week, later in the week I will preview a big weekend including #1 Oklahoma vs #5 Texas and #11 Florida vs #4 LSU.
