Cricket:

The Nashua Cape Cobras suffered in the heat of Paarl yesterday as they slumped to 228 all out against the Nashua Titans. Ryan Cannning, who was dropped for the Pro20's, made a point by scoring 122. The visitors will resume on 10 for 1 and temperatures are expected to reach 41 degrees out there.

Rugby:

The heat will be on in the Super 14 when the Vodacom Bulls host the Vodacom Stormers at Loftus tomorrow afternoon. Every Stormers player will tell you this is the one they want to win, but captain, Jean de Villiers, has warned they're facing a well-oiled backline. The Bulls have ha! d the better of the Stormers in recent years, but Bulls scrumhalf, Fourie du Preez, says recent history counts for nothing.

The Sevens Springboks have suffered a blow with an injury to Gio Aplon during their 26-5 win over Japan on the opening day of the World Cup Sevens in Dubai. Meanwhile, the captain of the Springbok Women's side, Saloma Booysen, says the team is psyched up to beat New Zealand in the pool stage this evening.

Cycling:

The heat wave conditions took its toll on dozens of cyclists in race two of the Giro del Capo in Durbanville, which was won by Barloworld's Chris Froome. The riders head to Paarl today for a 171 kilometre race in extreme heat. On Sunday it's the big one. Medscheme team owner and last year's Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycletour runner up, Malcolm Lange says everyone wants to win it.

Formula 1:

The Honda F1 team has been saved. The team will race as Brawn GP un! der new owner Ross Brawn.
